"We'll arrange that in the next few days," Sakrish said, patting his shoulder. "Oh, also, aside from shelter and food, you'll get extra payment. By the way," he said, taking out a small bag out of his pocket, filled with gold coins. "Here's your payment for the last week."

Horknath inmediately shook his head. "Sorry, but I cannot accept it", he said, making an halting gesture with his hand. "I am merely paying you back now. You are hosting me and all my group, offering us shelter and food, accompanying you is the least I can do", he added seriously.

"Take it. You might want to treat yourself before or after Ashanti has kicked your ass," Sakrish kindly joked. "I mean, Carleen surely is strong, but she can't outpass her mother yet. You have no idea what awaits you."

Horknath chuckled. "With the comparison, now I do have an idea", he joked back. But he still made it a point to refuse the money. "Really, it is not necessary. I am fine", he said, awkwardly. Maybe he was also feeling slightly guilty because he was seeing his daughter secretly. Maybe.

Sakrish sighed. "Alright. But you'd better get used of earning money from me when you become one of my officers," he said with another smile. "You'll be dining with us tonight, of course?"

Horknath smiled, and nodded. "With pleasure, if you'll want me at your table again", he answered. "Maybe I should go bathe first, though", he added on a second thought. After all, the training hadn't left him very presentable...

Sakrish laughed kindly. "Yes, you do that ! I'll see you later, Horknath," he said, as he went to reunite with Ashanti in their private quarters. And in the meantime, pretending that her aunt needed to rest before dinner, Carleen had sneaked into Horknath's room!

Horknath walked all the way to his room, entering and closing the door with his key. He was very reserved, especially if he had to go and take a bath. It was only when he turned around that he noticed someone standing in his room- "Carleen!", he kept himself from shouting her name, his face literally beaming.

Carleen smiled widely and quickly threw her arms around his neck for a long, loving kiss. She had missed him a lot over just a week!

Horknath wrapped his own arms around her, kissing her back passionately. He couldn't have waited another day without kissing her. "Gods, have I missed you", he said, in between kisses.

"I missed you two," Carleen breathed in between kisses herself. She had to slow down though, because they were still far from being sure no one would disturb them. Still, she remained in Horknath's arms for a while. "How did things go?"

Horknath kept Carleen hugged to his chest, caressing her head softly, hoping not to ruin her hairdo. "It went well", he simply said. "Your father told me I did a great job. I just, had my head elsewhere for a big part of the week. You tend to invade my thoughts a bit too much", he chuckled, kissing her forehead. "What about you?"

Carleen chuckled back, and kissed him once more. "It was boring without you. Just simple, everyday routine," she said with a sigh. "Well, that is, until my mother showed up, but you've met her already."

Horknath smiled. "I did, yes. Your father told me I will have to be ready and fight against her, when I'll decide to join the ranks of his warriors. He thinks I could be a good officer", he added, embarrassed. He wasn't really used to all that trust to be placed in him!

Horknath took a deep breath. "... they are the only friends I have", he said, hesitantly. "And I will be very sad, when and if they decide to go away. But if I had to leave with them, I am fairly sure I would be devastated. I love you too much", he confessed, shyly. "So, I think I would stay, yes."

Horknath kissed her back, gently. "Of course", he answered softly. "Even if I don't know what your father will think of it, to be honest. I just hope he will gracious enough not to cut my head off", he joked.

Carleen chuckled. "Well. We'll try to find the right moment to tell him," she said, happy enough with her answer. "I should probably get ready to meet my mother and my aunt when they're done with their ablutions. Will you come to my room tonight?"

Horknath smiled at Carleen, kissing her mouth. He just couldn't get enough of that. "I will, if you'll want me to", he answered. "Leave the window open for me, and I will show you just how much I've missed you", he added in a whisper, pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear.

Hornath laughed. "Heh. I should be the one saying that to you, princess", he teased her back. "I'll see you at dinner", he waved at her. He started to get ready for his bath almost immediately.

After dinner, Carleen spent a bit of time with her family, before she pretended to be tired, and excused herself to go back to her room. Where she impatiently waited for Horknath to show up, of course!

Horknath excused himself a while after Carleen, in order not to arise suspicions. He sneaked up to her window - he knew the path all too well by then - and huffed to fit himself in the opening.
