On the next week, Carleen was eating with her brother in the uni's main mess, occupying a table for 4. She was listening distractedly to the tale of his latest feat on the football field, her mind drifting occasionally to her first date with Horknath, and the second that was supposed to happen on Friday evening again.

It wasn't difficult to spot Horknath or Asterius in a crowd, given that they were both quite tall, and Asterius' horns were noticeable from far away. As soon as she did spot them at the end of the line, holding their food trays, Carleen waved to get their attention. And if that failed, her gesture peaked Theseus, interest, who turned around and didn't hesitate to call for them. "Asterius! Over here!" Alright, them as in 'Asterius', mostly.

Horknath had been texting with Carleen almost nonstop for the whole week (unfortunately their schedules weren't exactly date-friendly, and they barely managed to meet while in Uni if at all), and by now even his brother knew that they were supposed to go on another date by that Friday.
Speaking of Asterius, there wasn't a single day that passed without Theseus being somewhat involved in his routine - either by meeting at rugby practice, on the ring, or even via texts. But all in all he didn't mind - he actually quite liked that he seemed to have found a new friend to bond with over sports and the basic things he liked.
And again, speaking of Theseus-

Asterius lifted his head from his trail as Horknath paid for their lunches, ears flicking upwards at hearing someone calling his name. "We have a spot already taken, it seems", he told his brother, nodding towards Carleen and Theseus. Holding back a little smile when he noticed how evidently giddy and flustered Horknath had become when noticing his by-now-basically-girlfriend smiling and waving at him.

They both headed for the table, and sat down. "Hi, Carleen. Theseus", Horknath said, shyly waving at Carleen. Asterius grunted his own greetings as well, as usual not one for many words.

"Hello, you two forces of nature!" Theseus exclaimed, elbowing Asterius in a friendly way. Since Carleen and he had been sitting face-to-face before they arrived, Horknath had probably sat next to his sister, leaving the spot at his own side for the bull. "Haven't seen you yet today, Asterius! How are those muscles doing?"

Carleen smiled at Horknath a little more shyly than usual- she'd have loved to peck his lips or his cheek, but she had told him via text already that she'd rather tell Theseus about them later.

Asterius huffed when Theseus elbowed him. By now he knew perfectly well just how physical, even in his affections, the other man could be. "My muscles are doing fine", he answered gruffly. He hesitantly elbowed him back, still meaning it in a friendly way of course. "Ready for today's practice. What about you?"

Horknath didn't mind to be more discreet around Theseus - especially since Carleen had told him that it wasn't the fact of it being a public setting, more that her brother was quite protective when it came to her. He could understand, he and Asterius were just as protective towards Aria. "So, uhm... how have you been today?", he asked her with a smile, since it was clear that their brothers were busy talking among themselves.

"I'm quite excited about today's practice! I can't stand still. Sometimes, I just need to get out there on the field and blow off some steam, you know?" Theseus replied, while he kept on eating anytime he wasn't talking. Which happened rarely, so it was a wonder he actually managed to stuff things in his mouth.

Carleen threw a brief glance at their brothers, coming to the same conclusions as Horknath, and smiled at him. "Good! Well- I was quite tired, but I'm glad I get to see you today. And how about you? How's practice doing?"

Asterius let out a little chuckle. "I understand. It's the same for me, really." He was eating as well, but since he talked way less than Theseus he managed to do so with no risk of choking on his own food. "Football? Or the ring, today?"

"Oh! It's going well, thank you", Horknath answered and smiled to her, starting to eat his own lunch. "As you can see, no one elbowed me in the face lately. My nose's back being alright, and I have no bruises", he joked. "And - do you have anything planned for the weekend? Another catwalk, or?"

"Football," Theseus replied, before he smirked at Asterius. "Or I forgot about one of our appointments on the ring, but I doubt it! I'm looking forward to them everytime!" And it was true. Theseus was struggling to keep a schedule, but when it came to his meetings with Asterius, he never forgot anything.

Carleen chuckled, and shook her head. "No. I'm entirely free this week-end, I'm not even going home this time." She gave him a long look, and wet her lips. "How... about you?" She tried not to look desperate about meeting him a second time on that week-end, but. She was definitely hoping for it.

Asterius huffed, holding back a smile. "You didn't forget anything. We have no match scheduled this week", he observed seraphically. "I just hope you aren't messing up all of your schedule just to find time to challenge me. Or to spar with me", he added, throwing him a glance. From what Theseus himself had told him - very eloquently, as per his usual - he was doing a thousand different hings all the time. he really couldn't understand how he managed to keep up with it.

Horknath's gaze fell on her lips for a split second. He swallowed nervously, looking away for a little, feigning interest towards his potatoes as he gathered them on his fork. "Oh, I'm... I have a rugby match planned on Sunday", he commented, finally looking back at her. "But I'm. Free on Saturday." Completely, totally free. "Maybe... I was thinking, we could- we could meet up?"

"I put all of the important things on my agenda, so I don't forget about practice, or sports appointment at the gym." Theseus took his phone out, and showed him his agenda, that was... filled with sports appointment, indeed. "That's the only way I can keep up. Otherwise I forget," he chuckled, shaking his head. "But I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! I like staying busy."

"Why not?" Carleen replied, beaming. "We could meet for the whole day. I mean. Lunch, and then maybe hang out in the afternoon." She had just finished her own lunch so she put her fork down. It was a little awkward making date plans in front of her brother, but thankfully Theseus hadn't noticed.

Asterius blinked. Indeed, that was... quite the full fitness program Theseus had there. "I can see that. I'm wondering how do you find time to do anything else", he commented, shaking his head in disbelief. "Like studying, for example."

Horknath beamed back at her. "Yes, that sounds great! I'll- I'll be texting you for more details, then?" He had the feeling that indeed, talking about their meeting right in the face of their siblings wasn't exactly the best thing. He looked down at his plate again and swallowed thye last mouthful he had, even though he definitely still felt hungry. Damn it, he knew he should've taken more roastbeef.

Theseus paused, looking uneasy for a split second. He scoffed, however. "Well, I do study occasionally, of course. I- Carleen even helps me a bit!" He grinned, and then dismissed the subject quickly. "I didn't even ask you, but what do you do here, in university?"

"Sure, no problem," Carleen replied with a smile, before she followed Horknath's gaze. "You ate quite fast," she chuckled. "But I suppose you probably were quite hungry. A guy like you must need to eat a lot, right?"

Asterius raised a brow, but didn't question Theseus any further since he looked uneasy talking about his studies. Occasionally, though? Hm. "I am trying for a degree in athletic training", he answered. "I'd like to open a gym. Or become a trainer, if I manage." He tilted his head. "What about you?"

horknath smiled apologetically at her. "I eat quite a lot, yes", he answered simply, throwing a glance towards the line at the cafeteria and the food exposed there. Oh, there were those kind of salted cakes... he could definitely go for one of those. But a piece all for himself was definitely too big, he'd end up feeling stuffed. What to do? "Hey, Carleen", he started, still eyeing that cake. "Are you in the mood for a quickie?"

"Oh that's- we're in the same field, actually!" Theseus grinned. "I've never seen you though, you're probably- what, my senior or something?" Theseus has failed so many years in his school life that he was probably 3 to 4 years older than most of his classmates.
Or at least he'd know he was if he didn't ditch his most theoretical classes most of the time (if not all of the time) because he felt like running around campus instead. Quite literally.

Carleen was drinking when Horknath asked her that question and she almost spat in her brother's face, coughing a lot after swallowing the wrong way. Did he just- did Horknath - the MOST ADORABLE AND SHY GUY SHE KNEW - just... "wHAT?" She exclaimed, bringing her brother's attention on them too.

Asterius frowned, confused. "I thought we were the same age. I'm at my third year-" His words were drowned in Carleen's coughs and her loud, acute exclamation. he turned towards her, even more confused now by the shocked way she stared at her brother - as if he had just kicked her.

Horknath blinked, looking a little startled by Carleen's outburst - but thinking it was mainly due to the fact that she had choked on her drink. He wondered why! "A quickie", he repeated slowly. "Are you in the mood for a quickie." Seeing her dumbfounded, wide-eyed expression, he realized that maybe she didn't know what those were - one could see how it dawned on him by the way he went 'ah!'. "You know. One of those... french salted cake thingies with veggies and eggs?", he added helpfully after an embarrassingly silent pause. "They're selling slices over there, see?"

Tell me if you'd rather have me split Horknath's answer in two, if you want to give time to Theseus' and Carleen's reaction!

Catlern's face was red, torn between embarrassment and mild anger at first, for she genuinely feared for a split moment that Horknath was just like the others dumb guys she had dated so far. Or one of those guys that made lewd innuendos in public and expected her to roll with it-

Thankfully dumb was her brother's first language, and he had been looking for a distraction that might allow him to not talk about his ditched classes to Asterius.
"Oh! You mean, kitsch, right?"

Carleen was still half-coughing when epiphany hit her, almost causing her to wheeze. "Oh my god. You were asking me if I'd share a 'quiche with you?!" Okay that one thankfully got a laugh out of her.

Asterius tilted his head, looking back at Theseus again. "I thought it was pronounced quitch", he supplied in a low voice, not really understanding what was going on.

Horknath blinked slowly, turning his head at both Theseus and then Carleen. He looked utterly confused right now - what was this sudden hilarity about, now? He was fairly sure Carleen had looked almost mad at him for a second! What was going on!? "Yes?",he answered tentatively, looking dubious. "If that's how you say it. But if you don't want it-"

Theseus was frowning slightly when looking at Asterius. "Kitsch... quitche... quiche..." he pouted slightly under the effort of his brain cells working together, until his face lit up. "Eh, it would have probably been better if we took the French word for it, just like with their other specialties. Any guess on what it might be?" He took out his phone to google it. Yes. Yes, he googled 'French for quiche'.

Carleen was laughing by then, and she had to wipe a tear off her eye before she stood up, tapping Horknath's shoulder as she did so. "Come. I'll choose with you." And that way she could talk to him without their brothers eavesdropping on their conversation. "You have no idea as to what I thought you asked me, did you?"

Asterius stared at Theseus with pure amazement, bordering on confusion once again. Did he just- did the other man really think that a word spelled like quiche could be anything else than French? Did he really- "I think it's already a French word, he replied, still staring at him. Feeling genuine amusement rumbing in his chest now.

Horknath looked relieved when Carleen accepted his invitation and beamed, raising from his chair. "Alright!" He eagerly followed her to the line so that they could look at the cakes exposed on the tables. He turned to look at her, tilting his head. "Did I unknowingly ask you for something else then? I thought you were just surprised because I had pronounced the word the wrong way", he confessed embarrassed. "What did you understand?"

"No way," Theseus replied quietly in amazement when he saw that Asterius was right. He chuckled. " Well you're quite literate for someone from my department! Now, hold on-" and since he was on google, he pressed on a button to hear the pronunciation of 'quiche'. "Oh! Quiche it is, then. Well, the more you know," he scoffed, before he tucked his phone away and grabbed one of his fries again. "Did you study some French, Asterius?"

Carleen had to bite on her lips to try and suppress a smile. "Horknath. When someone offers their significant other a- 'quickie'", she said, lowering her voice, "They're asking for a 'quick' round of sex." She looked up at him a smile clearly tugging at her lips this time. "You're lucky none of my best friends heard that, and that my brother doesn't get innuendos."

Asterius scoffed. "Not really, no. I've never been good with foreign languages." he was very thankful that he had been born into a country that spoke the most widely-used language - and that his father's heavy accent hadn't rubbed off on him. "I just know some words." He paused. "So you are in my same faculty, then. Why have we never met?" Yeah, he wasn't going to let go of that any time soon.
After all, if Theseus had seen him before during classes, he'd started pestering him for a challenge much earlier - right?

Horknath took a second to fully process Carleen's words - another one to understand the implications - and another one to realize just what level of embarrassment he should be feeling right in this moment. His face turned violently red, and he turned away from her. "I'm- I'm so sorry", he stuttered, mortified. "I would never-"

Theseus paused. Uh. He had already established with Asterius that they were the same age, so he might indeed be asking himself why he had never seen him.
Hopefully he would be satisfied with only half of the truth.
"Oh! Well, I'm only in first year, might be why we didn't cross paths until now," he said with faked confidence.

Carleen chuckled. "Please, it's okay. I got that it was a mistake," she replied with a grin. "But I'll have to admit you had me upset for a second or two there- I thought you were a great guy, and suddenly you were asking me for sex in front of our own brothers before we even got on our second date," she added, purposefully teasing him a bit for it.

Asterius blinked. "Oh - you started University later, then." It made sense to him. Many people he knew had stalled before choosing the ideal career path for themselves, and some had to bounce from a department to another before they finally found it. Maybe Theseus had taken a sabbatical or two before taking his decision. "I see. How do you like your classes then, up until now? You must be excelling in all the physical exams."

Horknath flushed even harder. He was an entity dominated by the purest embarrassment by now. "I'm sorry", he repeated again, stuttering a bit. He knew Carleen was just teasing him - he could tell from her smile - but it was stronger than him. He managed a little, shy smile, though.

"Yes! Absolutely. I started university later," Theseus replied a little awkwardly. It was only obvious to anyone who was used to him though, and eprhaps Asterius wasn't there yet. "And I loved the physical exams! I've already completed them," he said with a proud grin.
Yes, he had done so two years ago. But he had passed none of his theoritical exams. If it weren't for his abilities as a football player or his parents' money, he would have been kindly shown the way out.

Carleen winked at him. "Don't worry. So- about that quiche you wanted?" She gently lead him by the arm, to choose one with him.

Asterius hummed, nodding. Indeed, he still didn't know Theseus well enough to know when he was clearly lying about something. "I could've guessed it. Your preparation is impeccable", he praised him. "What about the theoretical ones? They can be pretty challenging."

Horknath tried his best to get himself out of his embarrassment and let Carleen lead him away, choosing a cake that both could like before thinking of coming back to their table!

"Oh, oh, sounds like Theseus is fleeing something," Carleen said, while she sat back down with Horknath. "What are you two talking about? I still need to get back at him for getting his bruise before the big day," she said with a grin, intending on teasing her brother just a bit.

Theseus downright glared at her, eyes wide.
