1 - Guardian Angel

"... If you've been around my entire childhood, you probably know he'd doing nothing more than making us miserable," Castiel sighed. "I don't count the times he almost made it to prison."

"I can't count the times your father had to use his influence to keep him out of prison", Dean muttered, finishing his food surprisingly fast for someone who didn't need to eat. "Well, he is a spoiled little brat. I am just not sure he's any worse than Michael, to say a name."

Castiel gave it a thought for a moment. "Say," he said, a bit awkwardly. "How are the actual angels they're named after?" Most of them were named after the archangels, after all. They had to exist, right?

Dean hummed. "Well... actually, I've never seen any of them", he confessed a bit awkwardly. "I don't know where they ended up. If there is one thing we don't talk about a lot is the past."

"Oh." Castiel sounded a bit disappointed, but still. He gave each of Dean's revelations a long thought.
"Who were you- I mean, when you were human?"

Dean blinked. "I..." He frowned. "I don't really remember much." He leant back against his chair. "My name was Dean Winchester, my sign was Aquarius, I enjoyed long walks on the beach and hooking up with pretty girls", he joked with a smug smile. "I had a brother - I still do, and even though he is a huge nerd, I'd do anything for him. And... I remember I was a pretty angry person. And that I disliked and feared my father." He shrugged. "As for the rest, what you see is what you get."

Castiel pressed his lips together for a moment, nodding slowly. He thought about the fact that Dean was probably a sinner by his mother's standards, yet became an angel.
He looked down at his plate for a while, before he took an handful of his hair. He was having dinner and making small talk with an angel. Was he going mad? "So wait- you've been around my whole life. Invisible. How come I can see you know?"

Dean opened his mouth. Then he closed it. He was silent for a couple of minutes, deep in his thoughts. Now, how to answer that question without looking like an idiot? "... I'll be honest with you. I have absolutely no idea", he confessed. "It never happened - I heard some gossip about some event like this, but I am not very prepared. I will have to try and contact my brother. He is the knowledgeable one. To be fair, I can't be handsome and have an encyclopedia in my brain. Poor guy had to get something too", he added as a joke.

Castiel forced a short smile, then sighed. "So. This means we'll have to live ... physically together before you figure out how to go back to your former state, is that right?"

Dean's smile faltered a bit. He scratched his neck. "... not if you wouldn't feel at ease with it", he answered with a resigned shrug. "Listen, I have well clear that, as much as I know you since forever, it's not the same on your side. You met me what, ten minutes ago? And I go and dump all this supernatural1 info on you. So honestly, if you feel like this is too much, just say it. I wouldn't blame you."

"This is too much," Castiel confirmed, before he took a deep breath, finally daring to look back at Dean. "But you've watched over me my whole life. What kind of assbutt sends their guardian angel off?" He let out a small smile.

"I dunno, someone who values their sanity?", Dean laughed. "Aah, I am personally fond of your own personal way to say asshole. Frickin' adorable." He stood up from the chair, stretching a bit. "Seriously, though. You don't have to keep me here, if you don't want to. A word, and I am out."

"No, you can stay," Cas told him, as he put both of their plates into the sink. "... Do you mind sleeping on the couch, though?"

"You've always been too nice for your own good", Dean sighed. But he smiled, nonetheless. "I don't. It's not like I sleep much anyway", he observed. "Thank you", he added after a second of hesitation.

"Well... Thank you. For watching over me for so long." Castiel offered him an awkward smile, then cleared his throat. "Alright, it's getting pretty late, I should just take my shower and go to bed."

"Oh, don't worry about me!", Dean was quick to answer. "Do what you're used to. I'll get comfortable on the couch and take a shower too after you, I guess." He seemed thoughtful. Well, with a physical body, he had to pay attention.

Castiel nodded, and went to take his shower. Before going to his room for the night, though, he paused in his living room/kitchen for a moment, to look at Dean. "If you're gone by tomorrow," he said, hesitantly, "will I ever see you again?"

Dean blinked, moving slightly from the comfortable position he had found on the couch. He stared at him for a couple of long, silent instants, before the corners of his lips raised in a kind, honest smile. "I'm not leaving you", he simply commented. "If you'll wish, you will see me again."

Castiel smiled back at Dean, a bit awkwardly. "Thank you. And... Good night, Dean."

"Goodnight, Cas", Dean answered as he took back his position on the couch, humming a bit.
He soon enough started praying to his brother, not really know if that could actually work. But sure as hell he want going to tell to Castiel that his plan to get back to Heaven was likely going to fail.

After a while, Sam did show up in the room. He was still unseen to a human's eyes, as per usual, but blinked when he spotted his brother. "Dean ?" Yes, something was definitely off with his brother, but what?

Dean's eyes snapped open. His expression, which was frowny and scrunched up, relaxed a bit upon seeing his brother. "Sammy! Man, I'm glad you found me. I wasn't sure that praying would've worked." He got up from the couch, impatiently. "Maybe you'll be able to help me out."

Sam sat on the couch next to Dean, and touched him, confused. "You're... material? Dude, what happened?"

"... that's exactly the question I was hoping you'd answer for me." Dean sighed, then pinched the bridge of his nose. "I have no idea. One second everything was as usual, and before I know, on the next one!" He clapped his hands. "Pouf. I can be seen. I don't know what's going on here."

Sam frowned a bit, and looked around. "Wait. Aren't we in Castiel's apartment?" He suddenly seemed to worry for his brother. "Wait. Has he seen you yet?"
