"Dude, my soulmate is an astronaut"

Dean lifted up his hands. "Hey, you know me. Work, work, and work again 'til I drop dead. There is a case, but it is an excellent way to get some fun. We kind of need it", he insisted. It wasn't a lie. He needed to get out of that place, and to get something to distract himself with. Or he'd have gone crazy, thinking about the fact that his best friend was supposed to be his fricking soulmate.
Even if said best friend was going to stay there.

Dean shrugged. "Tomorrow morning sounds good to you?", he asked, stuffing his mouth with pie.

Dean was absolutely overjoyed to be in Vegas, and he didn't hide that in the slightest. It seemed like an entire lifetime had passed since the last time he had gotten the chance to get in the City of Sin, loosen up a bit and think of nothing. Nothing beside gambling, drinking to his heart's content, getting drunk... He had already pushed both his brother and his friend all over the city, going from a casino to another, until they were back at the place they were staying at. Place where he got to drink some more and... well, flirt with the waitress that had gotten him his drinks to begin with.

Dean sighed deeply. "Man, Vegas is totally wasted on you, you know." Then he saluted him with two fingers. "Night then Sam. Don't wait up. I have a feeling I won't come back tonight", he added with a wink, getting back to the giggling brunette waitress that was now sitting at his side, making a great show of trying to look attractive in her black, unbuttoned top.

Dean rolled his eyes a bit, unseen, then turned to Castiel. "You want to talk? Right now?" He made a gesture as if to say 'Can't you see I have something going on, man'. But even in his inebriated state, he could tell his friend was tense as a coil that had been wound up too tight.

Dean studied him a bit, squinting. Then sighed. He briefly turned to the waitress, "Well, sorry, uh... Janet - it's Janet, right? -, my very subtle, very delicate friend here needs to speak to me", then he got up. "I'll follow, go ahead."

Dean blinked at him a few times. Then frowned slightly, looking honestly confused. "What are you talking about?", he asked, noting the irritation of Castiel's voice.

Dean looked at the thread, then looked away. Oh, great. That. He would have loved to say he had forgotten, but hell, it was impossible to. Especially since Castiel was around. And the sudden pang of guilt he felt at that made him get instantly defensive. "You wanna talk? Well, alright. Let's talk about it then", he said, crossing his arms on his chest, ignoring the wording choice his friend had made.

Dean looked at him, clenching his jaw. "I thought we were friends, Cas. Hell, best friends, since we are at it. Now, do you think that should change? What does it mean for you, though, that's the question", he answered, promptly avoiding to actually answer. Because, honestly? He had no idea of what to answer to him.

Dean could feel his fists clenching now, along with his teeth, his frown now a deep scowl. "Alright. Just to make a point. I'll have you know that one thing I sure as hell wasn't hoping for was for this to just happen and fuck things up with YOU, and to make things this awkward!" Maybe it was the alcohol spurring him on, but he was getting honestly angry. Why did Cas want to make things WEIRD? And why wasn't he speaking clearly?

Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "That's not what I said", he hissed out through his teeth. Even though, in some way, that was exactly what he had said. "Cas, this- honestly, I don't know at all how to feel about this. About... us. I just don't know." Words seemed to have some serious difficulty to come out.

"I..." Dean wetted his lips in a nervous gesture. "I need time, ok? You make it seem like it's easy, but... I can't just jump on this like it's no big deal", Dean muttered.

"Goodnight, Cas." Dean felt a lump in his throat as he watched his friend walk away from him. Then he turned around, and left to get back to his room. Alone.
