The men threw their cards on the table, protesting loudly. Then again, one of them laughed. "Gentlemen, gentlemen, that was pure beginner's luck. I suggest we play all together... That way our lucky guy will be on his own too. And the more, the merrier.. and the richer," the man said with a smirk. "What do you say?"

Dean smirked back at the other man. "Hey now, don't be greedy. 'sides, my friend here is just a beginner, like you said. I don't know if he feels like playing another round, and all on his own too." He eyed Castiel, as if to ask his point of view. Well, of course Cas would have said no. Right?

"Actually- I still need to make some money," Castiel told Dean. "Maybe I'll be lucky again." He seemed quite confident about it, but Bobby made a face that clearly stated 'that kid can't even BLUFF'.

Dean had to physically keep himself from facepalming. He leant down with still his smile plastered on his face. "Alaskan", he warned him, whispering in a very low voice at Castiel's ear. "These guys are way more seasoned than you. I don't mean to scare you off or anything, but I don't think 'luck' is going to be enough against them. They probably know all the bluffs and tricks!"

Castiel turned his face slightly to look at Dean, frowning slightly. "You mean you don't trust me on this?" He had merely whispered. Almost against Dean's lips, given how close they were. So close that Sam had to clear his throat and get some attention away from them by discussing about the basic bets to do with their opponents.

Dean gulped. His eyes glanced at Castiel's lips, terribly close to his own, and then he found himself staring into those blue eyes. Damn. What the hell was going on? "It's- it's not a matter of trust", he whispered back, basically finding himself breathing against the other man's mouth before finally managing to pull away a bit. "It's a matter of experience. You didn't play a lot yet - I'm just afraid ou'll end up screwed. 's all."

Castiel hesitated for a little while. Then sighed. "Maybe you're right. I'll wait until I'll have trained with you and the others." He seemed a bit bummed about it, but... There was something new in the way he looked at Dean. He had felt his heart race a bit when they were that close. Did it mean anything?

Dean cleared his throat, and patted Castiel's shoulder. A bit awkwardly, to be fair, but he... weirdly enough did linger a bit on his shoulder, before getting his hand back. "It's for the best, believe me", he whispered again, before straightening up and getting the other players' attention. "Gentlemen, I'm sorry - my buddy here doesn't really feel ready enough to play such a big game." He smiled. "What about another time, eh?"

The other men grunted, but their leader flashed Dean a smile. "Please, Mr. Elkhound. Allow us at least to play against you and your other friends, to get a chance to earn back what we lost."

Dean looked at Bobby and Sam, raising a questioning brow. Was it wise to accept? That guy looked a bit too sure of himself. But then he shrugged. Heh, it was probably just the usual jackass who thought he was the smartest out of the bunch. "Well, why not. Alright." He gestured for Castiel to slide a bit on the side, so that he could sit down as well. "If my friends agree - then it's fine by me."

"Thank you." That blonde man with blue eyes flashed them a dangerous smile, and then they started playing. He and his friends did lose. But as soon as Bobby leaned towards the cash stacked onto the table, the stranger took out a gun from under his jacket, discretely. "Now, gentlemen. I think we should call it a night. You're going to walk away from here and leave us the money, won't you?"

Dean stiffened. He forced a smile at the stranger. "Now, now. We won this fair and square. I don't think this is how you play poker, right?" He eyed the gun with worry. Damn it - that wasn't something just everyone had. And he himself only had his knife with him, right now. What to do? Too bad Horknath had decided to get back to his room right after dinner, god damn it!

"A poker game? Now. That sounds plenty of fun", a rough voice drawled suddenly from one of te empty sides of the table. The man - who looked like he had appeared out of thin air, put his half-filled glass down on the table, leaning in with a smirk on his lips. "Mind if I join, gentlemen? Of course, if we all agree to behave and play by following the rules."

The blonde man frowned. And squinted, trying to gauge what exactly he did find peculiar about Crowley. "Sure," he said, quickly tucking his gun away. "Does that bother you, gentlemen?" he asked to Dean and the others, forcing a smile.

On his chair, Cas took a deep breath. He clearly felt a demon inside of Crowley, a big one. But he couldn't say anything, for it would be betraying himself. He for now focused all of his energy into ensuring his seals perfectly hid his condition, and waited to see what was going to happen.

Dean glared at that black-clad man, who answered him with a wide grin. Yes. Castiel was not wrong - that bastard was all kinds of wrong inside, and oh did they know it. "... I suppose no", he said, warily. In the meantime he was desperately trying to guess what could Crowley ppssibly want from them!

Crowley - we all know it's him - hummed, and sat down more comfortably. "Thank you. Could I have my cards then?", he asked with nonchalance.

Sam glanced at his brother, but since he didn't refuse... He shuffled the cards and distributed them to each player. The atmosphere was oddly tense, from this strange gathering alone. Also the fact that the strangers had threatened them with a gun, and were still trying to gauge out whether or not Crowley would prove to be a threat to them.

Re: 1- Squirrel and Moose

Post by Gravirei on Sat 1 Dec - 20:26

And it so happened that Crowley won that round. Weirdly enough, one might add, as he started by losing some hands - but at some point after the fifth hand or so, whenever someone of the other players tried to put down a winning hand, all he ever did was simply say, in the most candid way, "I'd look my cards again if I were you." After those words were uttered, said player would mysteriously find out that he had a losing combination, therefore making it a losing hand. This brought even more tension and nervousism around the table, especially considering that no one could understand just how this new stranger was able to cheat (because he was clearly cheating! Right?) in such a batlant way but without ever being noticed. And the large sum of money that was on the dish, ready to be won, did nothing but making everyone more anxious.

"Well... what can I say; beginner's luck?", Crowley said, throwing a frighteningly innocent smile at the other patrons. Dean at that point was just nervously waiting for the other players to get nervous and try to open up Crowley's head with a bullet. On one side, that would have been oh so very welcome - on the other, he knew perfectly well that no common weapon, not even a gun (which was rare to find around) could possibly hurt that fucker.

The blonde man took a deep breath, and held back a nervous chuckle. "Say, pal- All of those coincidences... Thinking we got the right cards, then watching them disappear under our very eyes..." He licked his lips. "Please tell me you're a wizard," he said carefully, with a faked polite smile. Because if Crowley weren't a talented wizard, it only meant one thing: that guy in front of him was a powerful demon. And boy, he wasn't ready to deal with a full-powered demon. Unlike the trained hunters in front of him, he had very few little chances of making it out of there alive.

Bobby had understood right away that Crowley had to be a demon. He discretely reached for the holy water inside his coat, and got it ready for use. Just in case. No need to flame things up.

Crowley's grin just got larger. And possibly mote threatening. "Good try", he cooed, folding his arms on the table. Then he blinked, his marks appearing on his skin as his eyes seethed red for a brief moment. "... but wrong. Try again?"

Dean kept his breath. He knew Crowley was probably having a field day with this, and since he couldn't know what he was after, he was really at loss of what to do for now!

The blonde man almost fell from his chair while taking a move back, sheer horror on his face. "Y-" he looked carefully at the markings, and lips his lower lip, nervous. "You're the Anubis," he whispered with reverenced fear.

"What would the Anubis do in here without an escort," Bobby asked right away, frowning a bit. His holy water was ready to use, but he wasn't so confident about this. After all, he had three of his boys to watch after. His fourth one was probably sleeping like a baby - then again, it was better that way. A high demon wouldn't let the chance of getting a sturdy vessel fly by, be it for themselves or one of their minions.

Crowley didn't answer at first. He just calmly collected his winnings, and took a coin in his hand to play with it distractedly. "Sometimes it's good to take a bit of a holiday, you know", he simply answered in the end, observing the coin with absolutely no interest at all. "I dislike to always be stuck in the main city. Everyone's so compliant." He threw a glance at the blonde man, smirking.

The blonde man was slowly reaching a fight or flee moment. More like a die or flee moment. He offered Crowley a polite, nervous smile, and cleared his throat. "Well. Who wouldn't want that, indeed. Well- congratulations, sir. But if you'll excuse us, my partners and I still have quite a long ride for the night, we should get going-" he made a move to stand up. He didn't care what happened to the hunters, as long as he got out of there alive.

"Aw. Leaving so soon?" Crowley trew him a smile. "I don't think you would be able to go very far." That was because his own bodyguards were waiting outside, on Crowley's order. "It so happens one of your partners owes me a little something. Something more precious than this money." He grinned, gaze shifting to the man who had been sitting at his side. "If you catch my drift."

The blonde man turned towards his friend, scandalized. "You sold your soul to the Anubis?!" He stood up, stepping away from him. "Listen- My Lord, I have nothing to do with this. He's all yours, but let us go- shut up," he spat at his partner. Because what was friendship when you had one of the most powerful demons in front of you?

Crowley observed the scene, a hint of cold amusement in his eyes. He didn't seem at all confused, or outraged at that behaviour - nor moved by his victim's pleads and the terrified way he begged his friends not to abandon him. "Oh, I won't collect anything myself. I like to have my hands clean", he added, only after he had let the horror sink in for good. "Just go, all of you." He glanced at the old clock standing in a corner of the room. "It won't be long anyway." The hounds had already started howling, after all.

The strangers started an argument, with the blonde man getting mad at his colleague. They ended up punching each other, and dragging the poor guy who had sold his soul out of the inn, to throw him at the hell hounds, in the hopes it would spare them.

Bobby took a deep breath. "Boys," He said out loud, carefully. "I think it's way past your curfew. You should all get back to your rooms."
