Serah was there, out of breath, her bow in her hand as she readied her own shot of salt. At her side, another female elf, imposingly tall, her hair long and tied up. Horknath wheezed when Serah hit the woman grounded by Valdyr. "Am... Ambassador Briala, I suppose", he said. The elf just smiled.

Gaspard had Nadia trapped against him as soon as he understood he was being ambushed, his grip as strong on her. She struggled, trying to break free. She lifted her eyes, panicked, looking at Ash. "If he doesn't unhand me, I won't lose my time to talk!", she warned him.

"...So you're on our side in the end?" Valdyr asked, quite suspiciously, as he carefully stepped up.

Ash held back a laugh, and showed both of his hands up. "Come on, we're on the same page here, my friend." He clearly showed his demonic eyes to the Duke. "What is it that you want?"

"I've never been on anyone's side but mine", Briala simply answered, putting his gun away. "Whatever you may have heard of me are nothing else but lies, spread by those demons. I guess they want the fault over me." Horknath looked uncertain. "Then probably the Dutchess is still in danger", he said.

Gaspard showed demonic eyes too, his hand up to Nadia's throat, squeezing it. "If you are one of us, you surely know I can't stray from the contract I signed", he said, grinning. "That woman will be dead by the end of the night."

"... We should go back to the main hall and alert the inquisitor," Valdyr grunted as he made his way towards the door.

Ash tilted his head to the side, frowning slightly. "Who made such a contract with you ?"

"I have secrets to keep, honey", Gaspard cooed to him, his grin larger. "I'll just say this meat suit is one of those with whom I made the pact. The other? In this moment, they're the closest to the Dutchess. Comvincing her to retreat in a secluded room."

Horknath followed him swiftly. Before them, three other demons tried to stop their advancing through the corridor. The half-orc ran forward, pouncing them to the ground, forcing salt in the throat of one of them.

"Oh. So your meat suit is guilty too. Too bad." Ash said with a small smile, before he suddenly raised his arm to throw a small fireball directly into Gaspard's face, careful to avoid Nadia.

Valdyr took advantage of his height to run past the demons, hurrying to the main room, trying to find the Dutchess and warn her!

Gaspard let out a shriek, trying to cover his face and stumbling backwards. Nadia got free of the grip and grabbed his throat, her eyes glowing blue. "You will get back where you came from", she murmured, pressing her free hand against his forehead. The demon instantly left the body, spiralling away in a cloud of black smoke, shrieking.

Horknath and the two elves held back the demons for him, to give him the time to reach the Dutchess. Her First Dame was taking her by the hand, smiling to her. "You seem tired, your Highness. Come with me, you will rest a bit."

Ash smiled to himself, and tired to trap the cloud of black smoke into a prison of fire, to capture that demon. Out of mere rivalry spirit.

"Your highness," Valdyr breathed heavily as he came close to the two of them, frowning slightly.

Nadia's eyes were still glowing, her palms now holding a blue fire in them. "Trap it, and tell me if you agree with me killing it or not", she said to Ash, calmly. The demon had failed to escape, in fact.

The Dutchess blinked owlishly at him, her hand already in her First Dame's, who was glaring at him. "Do I know you, master dwarf?"
"Ignore him, your Highness. You must rest."

Ash held back a laugh. "He's all yours, my dear," he told Nadia as he brought the fireball holding the demon in front of them.

"I am one of the Inquisitor's men," Valdyr quickly told her. "Trust me. Sit down if you must, but right now, and for the next few minutes, you'll be safer in this room mylady."

Nadia made a single gesture, speaking in another language, her blue fire engulfing the demon and vanquishing him. The glow in her eyes disappeared, her breath suddenly getting heavy. She rested against the wall.

"Her majesty is tired", Lauriel said flatly, venom in her voice. "She will come with me, and you- you, return to the celebration, sir. This isn't your business." The Dutchess slipped her hand out of Lauriel's, though. "I suppose I can wait a few minutes", she simply said. "But I'd like to know what's going on, master dwarf."

Ash made his fire disappear and taped her shoulder. "Come on, the Dutchess is still endangered. I'm going first," he told her as he went back to the main room.

"I don't want to alarm you, but we've spotted demons in the corridors outside this room," Valdyr told her, as he escorted her towards a nearby seat. "My colleagues are taking care of them as we speak. We should wait for the Inquisitor to be back and tell us when everything is settled."

Nadia grabbed him. "I am coming", she said, her weakness wearing off quickly. She ran after him, all disheveled, arriving in the main room and spotting Valdyr. At his back, Lauriel was finally showing her demonic traits, getting ready to attack him. "MASTER VALDYR!", she yelled. "BEHIND YOU!" She started to glow again, reading herself too.

Valdyr quickly took his daggers out, ready to strike if needed. He was taken aback by the fact that he was now facing Lauriel, yet placed himself between her and the Dutchess, ready to fend her off.

Thankfully for Valdyr, to help him look more intimidating, Ash quickly materialized behind him in a quick blaze of fire, smiling widely. "I'd stay put if I were you, sister. We took care of your friend just moments ago."

Lauriel - or to better say, the demon inside her - gritted her teeth. "What a let down. I will finish the job myself", she hissed, immediately getting to attack Valdyr. Horknath bursted into the room, Serah tucked under his arm. "Damn! We're late!"

And Valdyr fought bravely, though he tried not to hurt Lauriel. After all, his brother had been part of the royal guards, and he had taught him how to fight!
Ash sighed, annoyed, and turned to Nadia. "Do you need her to stay still to exorcise her?"

"I don't", Nadia said, again her power engulfing her body. She threw it all on Lauriel, actually succeeding in stopping her. Though she gassed out before she could successfully exorcise her. The black cloud sneaked towards her, grabbing her to try and possess her.

"Let me go!", the demon hissed, still trying to break Nadia's defenses. "I will go in there, and I will kill you with her powers", she hissed at Ash. "Why are you protecting her?" Nadia's eyes flamed. "You won't get in", she snarled, starting her exorcism, even in that difficult position.

Ash smiled mockingly. "Well, unlike you, she's caught my interets. And I kind of promised my meat suit I'd help her save the day," he shrugged with still a grin, waiting for Nadia to finish.

In the meantime, gentlemanly enough, Valdyr was helping the Dutchess to move away from the comotion and to come near Horknath and Serah, where she would be safer.

And with that, the demon was exorcised. Nadia took a deep breath, returning back to normality as she stepped over to Ash, so that she could control if Lauriel was doing ok. Not that it mattered, since she was supposed to get arrested, along with Gaspard. "Are you doing ok? Do you... detect other demons?", she asked Ash, somewhat awkwardly.

The Dutchess was clearly shaken, but she was holding it quite well ro be honest. She let Valdyr lead her away and near Horknath and Serah. "Everyone's fine?" Horknath asked. "Aside from me and my wounded leg, you mean?", Serah laughed.

"You mean, aside from me? Nah," Ash replied her with a wide grin. "Although I'm starting to suspect I won't be welcome here for much longer ~"

Valdyr snorted. "I thought elves didn't flinch under superficial wounds," he said, before taking a quick look at Serah's leg. "I'll patch it up for you. If you trust a dwarf enough for that."

Nadia shook her head. "I will guarantee for you. No one will speak a word nor try to kill you. And I wish to see the fool who tries to, with me around", she just said. "Let's go back to the Dutchess. I think it's better for us to get home now."

Serah snorted. "Don't think you're special, hon. My best friend is a dwarf. I just like to annoy you more. But yeah, sure, patch me up!" Horknath had given instruction to the guards of the palace to arrest both Gaspard and the First Dame, who were being dragged away after the Dutchess had confirmed the orders.

Ash arched a brow. "So that's it? We're not even going to enjoy the rest of the party?" He sighed heavily.

Valdyr offered her a forced smile, yet sat down by Serah's side to clean her wound and patch it up. Strangely enough, he always had a first-aid kit hidden somewhere on himself.

Nadia looked at him closely. She squinted. And then sighed, a long deep rush of breath. "I suppose we can", she conceded. "Go, you're free of raiding the buffet."

Serah didn't even yelped once at the patching up, which she seemed to be used to. Briala had reached them, and now she was talking quietly with the Dutchess, whom had invited all the guest not to mind the 'little ruckus' and keep having fun.
Which they were doing, by the way. Nobles are weird.
