Don't ask, don't tell

Yvan stared at his door for a few seconds. Then looked around both of them, and opened his door, quietly signing for Horknath to follow him.

Horknath looked around. Then he looked at Yvan, furrowing his brows in suspicion. He wasn't sure of why that man was inviting him in. Maybe to help him to the bed? Could be. Either way, if it was a trap, he was pretty sure he could suplex him without problems. So he shrugged, coming into the room.

Yvan slowly pushed the door closed, then looked at the ground. Then back at Horknath. "Are you and your friend truly leaving tomorrow morning?" he whispered, a bit unsure.

Horknath looked at him, puzzled. "That's not really my friend. He's my employer. Well, those are the plans, yeah. ...why?", he asked then carefully.

"... Please ask your boss to take me with you," Yvan whispered, alarmed. "I'm not crazy. I... i just need to get out of this town. Real bad."

Horknath scoffed. "Hey, slow down there. One, I don't know you that well to be able to trust you. Two, if you /want/ me to take this into consideration, you'll have to give me some more details." Had that man faked being drunk for that whole time? If so, who knew what else he could lie about.

Yvan ran his hands into his hair, nervously. He still seememd really, really dizzy, though, so at least he might have not been lying that much about the alcohol. "Look, just help me get out of town. I'll disappear right after that if you don't want to travel with me, but they're watching me. If they see me get out of town, I get killed on the spot."

Horknath crossed his arms on his chest. He was still clearly not convinced. "What, 'they' won't kill you if they see you with us?", he asked, suspicious. "And listen. Normally I would have just shrugged and helped you out. But I am on a job. And my employer will need much more of a reason than 'people you don't know will kill me'." Well that was just the truth. Valdyr was so suspicious of everyone getting too near to his bags...

Yvan sighed. "I just... What I'm asking for is for you to shove me in a bag, carry me out of town and just leave me somewhere in the forest. Is that too much to ask for? I mean... You don't even have to tell your employer about this! ... And I'll pay you," he insisted.

Horknath looked at him. ...well, honestly. He could use some money. He really could. He sighed. "...alright. Whatever. I'll meet you tomorrow, already in a bag. Don't try to make any weird move or I will drop you. Is that clear?"

Yvan sighed with relief, and nodded. "Thanks, man," he said as he held out his hand, to shake Horknath. "How much you want for that?"

Horknath shrugged, briefly shaking Yvan's hand with an iron like grip. "Whatever you can allow yourself to spend without being broke", he answered. "Well, better I go back to my room", he added then.

Yvan yelped and held his poor, hurt hand with the other. "O-okay then, good night," he replied weakly, but with a sincere smile.

"Whops. Sorry about that. My strenght is difficult to control at times", Horknath smiled at him. "Yeah. Goodnight", he added, walking out if the room to finally go to his own.

Valdyr was already in bed when Horknath came back to his room, but he wasn't sleeping. Instead, when he saw the orc, the dwarf sighed and put his dagger back under his pillow. "I didn't think you'd come up so early."

"Eh. No one caught my attention. I like to chatter", Horknath said, shrugging. He didn't miss the dagger, though. He chuckled. "A dagger? Why not a trap for rats", he joked, closing the door.

Valdyr rolled his eyes. "Something was off downstairs. We were being watched. Can't be too cautious in those conditions," he grumbled as he finally turned on his side.

Horknath waved his hand in his direction. "Yeah, alright", he said, letting himself fall on the bed, after getting pieces of his leather armour away. "Hey", he asked after a while. "I don't want to pass off as nosey or anything, but are you always this careful around people?"

Valdyr remained slient for a little while. "You want the truth? I usually never travel," he replied, in a low voice. "I came from my mountains to that town, and now I'm heading... back. Sort of."

"You don't like getting around then, huh", Horknath observed in a low voice. "Heading back? You mean you're getting back home then?"

"... No," Valdyr replied, in a whisper. "I'm... I'll just pass by. I won't ask you to take me much further than that, don't worry.

"Hey, it's not like I have things to do. You'll pay me a fair amount of money, I could take you further than that", Horknath hurried to say. Truth was, he loathed the loneliness that came in between his job offers. He was always trying to stretch them.

"... I'm not coming back, you know," Valdyr finally said as he looked at him. "I'm not even heading somewhere in particular. I can't pay you to go that far."

"... alright. Got it, I guess", Horknath said. Maybe Valdyr was getting away from a bad situation... he probably didn't want to talk about it. He rolled in the bed. "Just tell me we aren't going to be attacked by head hunters", he slipped. "Man I hate those."

Valdyr held back a smile. "So you've been doing that sort of bodyguard job a lot? How does it end, usually?"
